Varvaglione Primitivo di Manduria DOP Papale
La Collezione Papale is the flagship of the Varvaglione winery. It takes its name from the vineyard estate, once owned by Pope Benedict XIII, who loved cultivating Primitivo di Manduria vines. For this reason, the land became known as Contrada Papale. Today, that land still exists and belongs to the Varvaglione family, who craft the Papale Collection from the grapes of these historic vineyards
Production area: Salento, a peninsula in the southeast of Puglia, the ‘heel’ of Italy, stretching between the Adriatic Sea to the east and the Ionian Sea to the west

Tasting notes: deep red color and intense violet reflections. The bouquet is rich and expressive, evoking notes of fruit jam, blackcurrant, blackberry, cherry, chocolate, and licorice. On the palate, the wine is smooth, with a lingering, persistent finish
